Angel Oak

When I was in Charleston I made sure to check out the angel oak tree. It is something you just have to see in person to realize how big it is. It is believed to be over 1,500 years old!

I joined my family on a quick trip to the beach this weekend and captured this moment while my parents and I were watching the sunset over the marsh. So, I have to take this moment to talk about how awesome they are. My parents have supported me tremendously in going to school for what I love [photography] and giving me every opportunity possible to be successful in life. I can never thank you guys enough, I hope to make you both proud with my life, love you :)

James Island County Park Wedding

This was the last wedding I got to do with amelia + dan photography, a few weeks ago while on internship. Looking back on my first wedding, and now my latest, I couldn't believe how much I have grown in such a short amount of time! It gets me so excited about future weddings!

This wedding at James Island County Park was such a sweet ceremony, I may or may not have teared up :)

Last weekend my cousin Nancy, whom I don't get to spend enough time with, had me over to hang out and have a DELICIOUS dinner. I had a great time just sitting on the dock and chatting. Fort Sumter; 150 years later

Today was a cool day to be living in Charleston knowing that 150 years ago today, April 12, the civil war began in this city. It all started at Fort Sumter, and I was just there last week! After a very windy ride in a ferry boat over to Fort Sumter, I got to walk around where such a big part of history began. Here are a few photos from my day there!

Boone Hall Plantation

Today I went out and about around Mt Pleasant and Charleston, I went to the Boone Hall Plantation and it was just gorgeous! I could have stood around photographing the beautiful live oaks all day! The trees just amaze me, I learned that the two in front of the house were planted in 1743! Wow! The history is so rich around Charleston and I am trying to soak up as much as I can while I get to live here!

Internship Life

Things are going great here in Charleston with Amelia and Dan, I can't believe I am half way through my internship! So what has been going on lately, It has been quite the hilarious challenge learning to fold the new reflector. I have never been a master at these things but this one was especially difficult, because someone, cough cough, Dan, threw away the instructions. But I am pleased to announce that yesterday, I did it!

At Peace

My best friend, and uncle, Jackie passed away on December 12, 2010 after battling cancer. He was only the young age of 38. I was blessed in knowing him and getting to spend so much time getting the advice of an artist on what to do and not to do with your talents. He was such a talented person at all he picked up. The day before he passed away I asked him if he had any advice for me and he said, "don't waste your talents, make me proud and be the best photographer this world has seen." I have found myself more passionate about getting better as a photographer. I hope to make him proud with who I become in life.

This is a rose from his funeral that I photographed with a tilt shift lens in my Grandma's sunroom.
